Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace and rapper Stormzy to acquire non-league Croydon Athletic

Croydon Athletic, a ninth-tier English football team, has been purchased by rapper Stormzy and Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha, the club announced on Tuesday.

Zaha was born in the Ivory Coast but moved to Croydon when she was four years old, and grime superstar Stormzy is also a native of the district of London. To purchase the club, the two have teamed up with Danny Young, a former director of player welfare at Palace.

According to a statement from Croydon, “The consortium will own, run, and develop their hometown football club.”

The three consortium members are enthusiastic about creating a communal asset in the borough that provided them with their own chances, even if completion is dependent on legal and governance processes.

They want to bring the whole community along on this thrilling trip.

Recently, a lot of celebrities have made investments in soccer teams.

Wrexham, which was purchased by Hollywood celebrities Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in November 2020, is succeeding after the Welsh team won promotion to the English Football League in April after a 15-year hiatus.

NBA legend LeBron James has stock in Liverpool, while actor Michael B. Jordan has investments in Bournemouth and Liverpool.
