Criminal hurt during a confrontation, detained

Prayagraj: Late on Monday night, in the boundaries of the Prayagraj district’s Nawabganj police station, a wanted criminal was shot by the police, resulting in his injuries and detention. Maseed Khan (43), a native of Dehlupur in the Pratapgarh district, was the wounded criminal who was brought to the SRN hospital for treatment.

Thirteen criminal proceedings against the offender are pending, according to the police.

During the encounter, police also detained his accomplice, Mohd Dilshad, a 37-year-old Mauaima (Prayagraj) inhabitant. Following a tip that two criminals involved in multiple truck loots and highway robberies were on the border of Pratapgarh and Prayagraj with the intention of carrying out a crime, a joint team of Nawabganj, Soraon, and SOG (Ganga Nagar) intercepted a bike near Shringverpur road during checking and asked the criminal to surrender, DCP (Ganga Nagar) Abhishek Bharti told reporters.

The offender then started shooting at the police party, injuring one other in the process.

On the scene, police also found a bike, eight cartridges, and two handguns produced in the nation. According to DCP, the wounded offender was a well-known truck thief who was sought after by many district police. Additionally, a vehicle was found at their hiding place. Nine charges against Dilshad are still pending at various UP police stations.
