Government Is In ‘Mission Mode’ To Boost Women’s Status, Says UP CM

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, said on Thursday that crimes against women must be halted in order to advance society.
Adityanath was present at a large wedding celebration held at this location as part of the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana. During the celebration, more than 1,500 marriages were consummated.

The chief minister said that the BJP’s dual-engine administrations in the state and the federal government are operating in “mission mode” to maintain and advance the status of women.

The phrase “double engine” is used by BJP leaders to describe the party being in power both at the federal level and in a state.
“To strengthen society, atrocities against women must be ended. To maintain the dignity of women and give them authority, the double-engine government is operating in mission mode, he added. Without the empowerment of women, he said, society cannot advance overall.

The mass marriage programme, according to the chief minister, is a successful effort to eradicate the depraved practise of dowry, which is still extensively practised in society.

“Dowry is an ill in society. This dowry-free marriage initiative should include society, he added.

According to him, more than two lakh weddings have been performed by the state government since 2017 as part of the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana.

“Each wedding cost Rs 31,000 before 2017, but (after the BJP took office) the cost rose to Rs 51,000. The double-engine government has worked together on this, he added.

The state is now running the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana for the education of female children from birth to graduation, while “Mission Shakti” protects the protection of women, the chief minister said, reiterating that the government is dedicated to safeguarding the safety, dignity, and empowerment of women.

He said that due to the Mukhyamantri Samajik Vivah Yojana, parents need not worry about their daughter getting married after graduation.

He mentioned the government’s programmes for the welfare of women, such as “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” and other state and federal programmes, saying “This is in accordance with the ethos of “gaon ki beti, sabki beti.”

The CM also said that women have a 20% reservation in the Uttar Pradesh Police.

Only 10,000 women worked for the UP Police between 1947 and 2017. This number is now at 40,000, he said.

He said that preparations were being made to form a PAC women’s battalion in Gorakhpur.
