Partnership Between BPCL And Noida International Airport For An Eco-Friendly Fuel Pipeline

On February 20, 2024, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Noida International Airport (NIA) signed an agreement that would be a major step toward greener aviation.

The construction of a dedicated aviation turbine fuel (ATF) pipeline from BPCL’s Piyala Terminal to the tank farm at Noida International Airport is the goal of the agreement. This pipeline will reduce carbon emissions in addition to effectively supplying the airport’s ATF demands.

According to the press release, Ms. Nitu Samra, chief financial officer of NIA, and Shri Sujit Kumar, chief general manager of BPCL’s marketing (aviation), inked the deal. Important figures attended the occasion, including Ms. Kiran Jain, Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Mayuri Vats, Head of Legal from NIA, and Shri Biju Gopinath, Executive Director (Pipelines) and Business Head (Aviation) from BPCL.

This specialized ATF pipeline, which is 34 kilometers long and 1.2 kilometers within the airport property, will function as a common/contract carrier, guaranteeing efficient fuel delivery.

This program is in line with Noida International Airport’s dedication to environmental stewardship. The pipeline will dramatically decrease emissions by reducing tanker truck movements and simplifying fuel receiving procedures.

The BPCL Director of Marketing, Shri Sukhmal Jain, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to lowering carbon emissions by minimizing fuel use for road transportation. He outlined BPCL’s track record of installing ATF facilities and related infrastructure at Indian airports.

“We are pleased to collaborate with BPCL for the development of a common-use fuel transportation pipeline, which aligns with our strategic vision of offering cost-effective and sustainable solutions that are more economical for the transportation of liquid fuels compared to road transport,” said Ms. Kiran Jain, Chief Operating Officer of Noida International Airport, echoing these sentiments. We are certain that this action will lower carbon emissions and increase our total productivity, helping to fulfill the pressing requirement of a more sustainable future.
