Patient dies after falling from Lucknow Hospital’s third floor

According to authorities, a patient who was hospitalized to the orthopaedic ward of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in this city died on Sunday after reportedly jumping from the third floor of the hospital.

The KGMU administration confirmed the patient’s death and said that a police inquiry into the incident is ongoing.

According to KGMU spokesman Dr. Sudhir Singh, Ramvriksh (54), a native of the Kushinagar district, was confined to the orthopaedic ward and passed away on Sunday morning after falling from the ward’s window.

Ramvriksha was hospitalized on August 25 with a spinal injury, according to Singh. On September 13, Ramvriksha had surgery.

A police investigation into the incident is now being conducted, the statement said.

Keshav Kumar Tiwari, SHO of the Chowk police station, however, said that neither a written nor verbal complaint about this situation nor any information from the KGMU medical administration had been received by the police.
