Remember the dates: Week-long celebrations beginning on January 17 to commemorate the Ayodhya ceremony

LUCKNOW: A number of Vedic ceremonies will accompany the dedication of the Lord Ram idol in the “sanctum sanctorum” of the future temple on the grounds of Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. On January 22, the city will be the scene of a historic spiritual gathering that will include notables from all spheres of society, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to Maniji, the manager of Shree Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, Kanchipuram, which is situated between Kashi and Ayodhya, the week-long festivities linked to the statue of Lord Ram in his infant form will start on January 17.

According to sources close to the chief priest, Acharya Pt Laxmikant Mathuranath Dixit, an 86-year-old scholar of Vedic Karmkand (ritualism) from Kashi, who would conduct the rituals associated with the consecration ceremony, the following basic rituals will be performed on the afternoon of January 16: Sarvaprayashchita Homam (a ritual to seek atonement), Dashvidsnan (taking a bath in the Saryu River), taking the place of a Ajman (person who performs yajna), and others.

Pt Ganeshwar Shastri Dravida and 121 other Vedic Acharyas will accompany Acharya Dixit in performing all the pujas during the occasion. Jalyatra, Tirth, and Kalash Pujan will kick off a series of rites on January 17. Next, a Kalash Yatra will be conducted in the town near the temple. The main Vedic ceremonies for the consecration will start on January 18 in the afternoon with “Pradhan Sankalpa” and Ganeshambika Pujan, which is the devotion of Lord Ganesh and Goddess Ambika. On the same day as Yajnabhumi Pujan, “Mandap Pravesh” and “Pujan” will also occur.

The pre-consecration rituals on January 19 will begin with “Devta Pujan,” which is the recital of all four Vedic branches. Other pre-consecration rituals include Adhivasan, Kunddpujan (invoking Agni Devta prior to havan), Jaladhivas (keeping the idol of Ram Lalla immersed in water), Annadhivas (keeping the idol in foodgrain), and Ghritadhivas (keeping the idol in ghee/butter oil).

On January 20, medicinal water from 81 urns will be used to cleanse and purify the temple courtyard. After that, the temple would conduct “Vastupujan.”

The idol of Ram Lalla will be bathed on January 21 before being dedicated on January 22. The idol would be bathed in water that had been collected from various holy rivers and pilgrimage sites and filled into 114 urns. It would then be worshipped through Mahapuja and taken on a “Nagarbhraman” (city tour) so that the devotees could see it before it was dedicated in the “garbh griha” (san ctum sanctorum) the following day.

Ram Lala would ride a customized chariot and go across Ayodhya in a grand parade at Nagarabhraman. Following the ceremonies, the idol of Ram Lala is taken to the “Yajna Mandap,” the site of the Shaiyyadhiva, Tatvanya, and Mahanya rites.

The Devpranpratishtha (primary consecration of deity) ceremonies, which include the Vastu, Brahmin, Matrika, Ganesh, Ambika, and Varun pujas, will take place on January 22.

The day will begin with a customary morning puja and conclude with a magnificent Pran Pratishtha Mahapuja in the afternoon. Next, a “Shodashopachara puja” would be held, during which the god would perform “16 sanskaras” in accordance with Vedic customs. Subsequently, there will be the first “Maha Aarti,” wherein Ram Lala would be shown to the faithful before ultimately being crowned inside the “Garbha Griha” during the auspicious Mrigashira Nakshatra (star sign).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anticipated to participate in the deity’s Mahapuja, Mahaarti, and Purnaahuti offerings, according to reports. According to sources, there will be a 48-day “Mandala Puja” and “Mandala Abhishekam” after the consecration.
