UP: Parents Kill Pregnant Woman for Refusing to Testify Against Man in Rape Case
Police stated on Sunday that an eight-month pregnant lady was killed by her parents before she appeared in court in this city of Uttar Pradesh to testify in an abduction and rape case.
The 19-year-old lady was slain because, according to the police, she refused to testify in court against her suspected lover in the case, which was brought on by her parents.
According to authorities, she and her lover eloped in October 2022, and when she was located in December of the same year, he was detained and imprisoned.
The 19-year-old’s parents, according to the police, have been detained. According to them, she was strangled on Friday night and her corpse was placed in a river near Goyla village, which is close to the Shahpur police station.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjeev Suman, the woman’s parents were detained on suspicion of murder in accordance with Indian Penal Code section 302. He asserted that the parents had made an admission of guilt. The lady was required to provide a statement in the case on Saturday, but the officer said that she failed to show up.
“The woman’s parents wished for her to testify in court against Rahul. But she was adamantly opposed. Her parents were upset by this and murdered her, according to the SP.
