Why did Maya stage the Brahmin conflict at the Aligarh seat?

Agra: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president and former chief minister Mayawati explained her rationale for fielding a Brahmin candidate in the Aligarh seat during a rally on Tuesday. She emphasized the discontent among the populace with the performance of the current Brahmin legislator.

“Aligarh has consistently selected Brahmin candidates, but the people are dissatisfied with their inefficiency,” the speaker said. Notably, Brahmin-turned-BJP candidate Satish Gautam is running again after winning in 2014 and 2019.

When attacking the BJP, Mayawati didn’t hold back, declaring, “Honest elections will not favor the BJP this time.” “Unfulfilled promises and its inclination towards benefiting industrialists” were the points she brought up. The Samajwadi Party, she further said, “neglects SC/ST communities by abolishing reservations in govt promotions.”
In addition, Mayawati brought attention to “the struggles faced by poor upper-caste individuals and minorities under BJP rule.” emphasizing the “startling increase in crimes committed against these disadvantaged communities.” She voiced alarm about the worsening circumstances of farmers and the impoverished under the present government, especially those from upper-caste groups.
