Baby of Five Months Survives Despite Ingesting Sewing Needle

In China, a five-month-old infant was sent to the hospital right away after swallowing a sewing needle that caused a hole in her heart. The child’s parents sought emergency medical help when she began to experience convulsions and lose consciousness at home.

The baby’s stomach wall was penetrated by the sewing needle before it punctured her heart’s left ventricle, according to the Xi’an Children’s Hospital in Shaanxi Province. The medical staff brought the youngster to the surgical room right away after acting quickly. Following a difficult surgical operation, the needle was successfully removed. After the procedure, the little girl was sent to the Intensive treatment Unit (ICU) for careful observation and further crucial medical treatment.

The event is said to have happened when the kid mistakenly swallowed the needle, unaware of the risks of it puncturing her heart and stomach wall. Although the procedure was successful, it is unknown how long the infant was kept in the hospital before being let out.

This terrible scenario brings to mind a similar incidence that happened in China in September of last year, when medical experts were presented with a perplexing circumstance. An 11-year-old child who was having agonizing discomfort when peeing brought himself to the hospital. Doctors were shocked to learn via an X-ray that an acupuncture needle had accidentally entered the boy’s bladder through his urine route.

The medical staff at Jiangxi Children’s Hospital in Jiangxi Province was first perplexed as to what was causing the boy’s suffering, so they started an X-ray study. The boy’s penis had an 8 centimeter needle implanted there, the tests showed. The young kid confessed to sticking the needle into his urethra on purpose out of boredom, just to rule out the possibility, after being questioned.

The Chief Physician, Dr. Rao Pinde, said that the youngster had committed this deed around 12 hours before experiencing urine problems. He ultimately went to the doctor as the agony worsened, but he was reluctant to reveal that it was self-inflicted. An endoscopic technique was then performed to carefully find and withdraw the needle, which resulted in a satisfactory resolution of the issue.
