Every Day, This Antarctic Volcano Produces Gold Worth A Fortune

Everyone knows how precious and highly sought-after gold is throughout the globe. What if we told you that a fortune’s worth of gold is created every day somewhere in the world? The fact that you are unable to access it is the most awful aspect of it all. Numerous active volcanoes may be found in the snow-covered continent of Antarctica, which is among the most remote locations on Earth. Every day, a single volcano spews forth gold dust valued at a tiny fortune.

One of the strongest and tallest active volcanoes on the continent, Mount Erebus, is reportedly releasing more than simply smoke, according to an IFL Science research. According to the study, pockets of gas containing solidified gold are released every day by the volcano and are believed to be worth about Rs 5 lakh.

The gold particles, sometimes called “gold dust,” are no larger than 20 micrometers. The collection of these particles over the course of the day may equal around 80 grams of gold. Scientists have also noted that the gold dust spreads far since they have found gold traces in the surrounding air up to 1,000 kilometers from Mount Erebus.

Sadly, the gold, which is very valuable, cannot be taken since this region is 621 miles from the planet’s southernmost volcanic vent. It is 12,448 feet above sea level and entirely covered with snow.

The frozen volcano here is constantly releasing gas, which includes many other valuable metals in addition to gold, according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Earth Observatory. It also sometimes releases rocks. According to Columbia University’s Professor Connor Bacon, the Erebus volcano has been erupting constantly since 1972, as reported by Live Science. Lava, which is composed of molten elements on its surface, fills the summit. This is quite uncommon. This surface becomes snow-covered, yet it never freezes. But there’s still a lot we don’t know about it.
