‘India Not For Novices’: A Chennai-Based Auto Driver Installs ‘Pipe’ As A Temporary Fan for Summer

Whether they are in their homes or on the streets, Indians never fail to astonish me with their “Desi Jugaads.” And just when you believe you’ve seen it all, an autorickshaw driver appears, prepared to dispel any lingering reservations about the creativity inherent in every Indian. You wonder, What’s the newest achievement? An autorickshaw is shown with a very unusual modification in a widely circulated viral video: a pipe that is carefully positioned in front of the driver.

This isn’t just any pipe, however. It’s a two-sided marvel that extends inside the driver’s cabin and out the exterior of the car. You may wonder, then, what the goal is. It functions as a targeted airflow system ingeniously, giving the driver a cool wind on hot summer days. It seems too wonderful to be true, doesn’t it? The Venturi effect, which occurs when fluid velocity rises and pressure lowers as it flows through a short part of a pipe, explains the physics behind the magic.

Therefore, even if it may seem complicated, for an autorickshaw driver in Chennai, it’s simply another day in the demonstration of the adage “India isn’t for beginners.”

After being posted on Instagram, the video soon attracted notice and generated a flurry of comments. Some people approached the pipe with a lighter tone, while others pondered its meaning.

“Free Air Force,” a user cried. Another laughed, saying, “It looked like a horn. See it, and the sound will come in more accurately.

A commenter went so far as to offer a further enhancement, saying that it might be made even better by using the Venturi effect and reducing the interior tube opening size. Because of this, the air will move faster through the constriction, which will lower pressure and eventually lower the temperature.

Even if we’re not scientists, it’s important to remember that the Venturi effect usually affects fluid flow in pipe systems that have a constriction. In this instance, the pipe seems to serve more as an improvised fan to guide airflow in the direction of the driver. Although there’s a chance that the pipe’s narrowing may speed up airflow somewhat, the main goal here seems to be airflow towards the driver rather than making use of the Venturi effect for cooling.

The video went viral when it was shared, gaining an incredible 38 million views on the site.
