Indian Railways React After Trash Is Dumped On Tracks By A Moving Train

Social media is often used by many travelers to vent about the unappealing cuisine, unclean restrooms, and unpredictable scheduling on Indian trains. A member of the Railways cleaning crew is shown in a recent video posted on the X account “Mumbai Matters” emptying a rubbish bag full of trash off a moving train onto the tracks. Mumbai Matters also said in the caption that a passenger had called the railway hotline at number 139 with a complaint.

The railway worker is seen in the first video posted on X emptying a bag full of trash off the moving train. Then, using a wiper, he is shown collecting trash in a corner, including wrappers, plastic bottles, and food scraps. He dumps the trash onto the tracks after hurling it out of the moving train rather than gathering it into a rubbish bag.

“It appears that the on-board housekeeping staff on #IndianRailways trains follows this routine.” Simply place all of the rubbish that has gathered on the train’s tracks. After a passenger made complaint number 139, the supervisor and the whole crew quickly turned to find out who had complained and why. The description for the video said, “They are operating on very little money because they aren’t getting paid fairly and aren’t given enough bags to collect trash.”

In response to his tweet, Central Railway’s Mumbai Division requested the PNR and train numbers in order to take action against the employees. The team replied to another tweet with, “The concerned has been notified to identify and take necessary action.”

In the meanwhile, a number of online users voiced worries and questioned the hygienic and trash disposal standards of Railways. Many others uploaded similar recordings and demanded “strict punishment,” while yet others urged travelers to exercise more caution.

”This is terrible, the government is investing significant money on trains,” a user remarked. Another said, ”How can the railway crew operate in this manner? This can’t be genuine. In this instance, cleanliness begins in the train kitchen at home.

“This is terrible, but what’s worse is seeing how dirty the passengers make the bogies they travel in, even on short trips,” said a third. Even the restrooms in the two-tier air conditioning system are in terrible shape.
