Security personnel uncover a Maoist base in the Bihar district and thwart an assault with explosions

In Aurangabad, security personnel comprising the police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly thwarted a Maoist plot to set off a series of IEDs (improvised explosive devices).

During operations on a Maoist hideaway in the Gijania Pahar hills in the Aurangabad district on Thursday, the troops found 29 potent IEDs and 60 metres of Codex wire, according to police on Friday.

Following a tip, the CRPF 205 Cobra battalion and the Aurangabad police together conducted an operation in the mountainous area. IEDs held by the Maoists for a series of bomb attacks against the troops were found during a search on a hideaway within a cave, according to superintendent of police Swapna G. Meshram.

Additional SP Rajesh Kumar, who oversaw the search activities, said that all of the devices were prepared for sequential blasts after being attached to detonators and wiring.
