Bihar Government Colleges Will Not Charge Internship Fees to Foreign Medical Graduates

The Bihar government stated on Tuesday that government medical institutions and hospitals would not charge them any money for providing permission for internships, which will be a comfort to international medical graduates.

Additionally, according to authorities, the state government agreed to provide stipends and other benefits comparable to those given to Indian medical graduates.

The choices were made on Tuesday at a cabinet meeting here that was presided over by the chief minister, Nitish Kumar.

According to S Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat), “government medical colleges or hospitals will no longer charge any fee from the medical graduates from abroad for permitting them to do internships in the state.”

“The maximum FMG quota for internships should be 7.5% of the total permissible seats of the Institute. He informed reporters here that the majority of the FMGs were individuals who had unfinished internships when they returned to India after the COVID-19 breakout and the Ukraine crisis.

A policy to control chit fund businesses in the state was also adopted by the state cabinet.

“The government can now confiscate properties of those chit-fund companies who operate illegally,” Siddharth stated. “The cabinet has approved a policy in this regard.”

Additionally, incentives for installing compressed biogas units were offered by the Bihar cabinet.

According to him, the state government would provide an incentive of 15% of the total capital investment, or Rs. 5 crore, for investors falling under the general category.
