When it comes to soil health and fertility schemes, Bihar performs the best

Patna: At a ceremony conducted in New Delhi on Thursday, Bihar was given a certificate of recognition for being the “best performing state” under the soil health and fertility program. The Indian government’s ministry of agriculture and farmers’ welfare gave the certificate.

A comprehensive program for soil sampling, testing, and SHC production was started under the Soil Health Card (SHC) Scheme, which was implemented in 2014–15. This initiative was designed to help state governments provide health cards to all of the nation’s farmers.

Farmers may learn more about the nutritional condition of their soil and get recommendations on the right dose of nutrients to improve the fertility and overall health of their soil via the Soil Health Cards Scheme.
In order to record and display all test results on a map, the Soil Health Cards Scheme interface has been redesigned and connected with a Geographic Information Technology (GIS) technology.
In order to streamline the scheme’s implementation and give farmers easier access to the SHC, the mobile application has been strengthened with extra features like limiting the sample collection region for the village-level operator or entrepreneur taking soil samples, automatically selecting the location’s latitude and longitude, and automatically creating a QR code that links the sample and test results from the geo-mapped labs directly to the portal without the need for manual intervention.
