Air India launches the A350-900’s maiden ferry flight

With its new livery, Tata-owned Air India has conducted its maiden ferry flight of A350-900 aircraft from Singapore to Toulouse.

“One more step toward the arrival of the airplane that India has been waiting for. Air India shared the photo on X, the original name of Twitter. “Our @Airbus A350-900 takes off on its first ferry flight from Singapore to Toulouse in the new Air India colours,” the airline said.

According to the authorities, the aircraft livery was painted in Singapore, and it is now returning to Toulouse for more work before its planned December delivery.

Via a finance lease agreement with HSBC, Air India purchased India’s first Airbus A350-900 aircraft in September.

Air India is now the first scheduled carrier to purchase an aircraft from a company incorporated in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), according to airline authorities.

The first widebody aircraft to be leased via India’s first International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) is Air India’s inaugural A350-900.

By the end of this year, the first of Air India’s six Airbus A350-900s is anticipated to land in India; deliveries of the other five aircraft are planned until March 2024.

Air India has definite orders for 470 aircraft, including 34 A350-1000, 20 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, 10 Boeing 777X widebody aircraft, 140 Airbus A320neo, 70 Airbus A321neo, and 190 Boeing 737MAX narrowbody aircraft. These orders are in addition to the six Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

On the fringes of the June 2018 Paris Air Show, Air India inked purchase agreements with Boeing and Airbus to buy these aircraft.
