In THESE Countries, X Will NOW Charge $1 Per Year For Likes, Replies, and Reposts; Check Details

The social media network X, previously known as Twitter and owned by Elon Musk, said on Tuesday that it would try a new subscription business model in which it will charge a one-dollar yearly fee for the most basic capabilities. Users of X must now pay an annual membership fee since the microblogging service is no longer free. Users will be charged under the new “Not A Bot” subscription when they bookmark articles on the platform’s online version, like them, repost them, or quote other users’ content.

According to X, users in New Zealand and the Philippines will be the first to get access to the new way. “We’re starting today to test a new software (Not A Bot) in the Philippines and New Zealand. To publish and engage with other postings, new, unverified users must purchase an annual membership for USD 1. Existing users are unaffected by this test, according to X support.

“This new test was created to support our already effective efforts to decrease spam, platform manipulation, and bot activity while balancing platform accessibility with the modest charge amount. It does not increase profits. And thus far, subscription services have emerged as the primary scalable answer,” it said.

X said that the new subscription model is being introduced to fight spammers and bots, and that the cost would vary from nation to nation depending on the currency rate.

Existing users are unaffected by this test. New users can only see and read posts, watch videos, and follow accounts if they don’t want to subscribe. Elon Musk, who bought the firm last year, has a thorny problem with bots. The restriction on seeing tweets was implemented by X in July “to ensure the authenticity” of its user base.

As part of its “X Premium” membership model, X now charges its customers a set monthly price. It is a premium membership that gets you early access to various services and adds a blue checkmark to your account. The monthly premium for Android and iOS smartphones in India is Rs 900. The cost of the web is Rs 650 per month.
