Known for producing transmission parts for two- and four-wheelers in India, Musashi India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Musashi Seimitsu Industries, Japan, has made a significant foray into the e-mobility space.

The company’s latest endeavor intends to make use of its outstanding design and technical expertise to produce an inventive EV unit made up of a motor, PCU, and Gear Box.

In October 2023, Musashi, a firm dedicated to creating high-performance and secure automotive components, will begin manufacturing the E-Axle at its Bengaluru facility. Phase 1 of this innovative initiative, which would cost 70 crores, will see Musashi installing an assembly line for the product within its present production facilities in Bengaluru.

In an attempt to strengthen its position in the e-mobility market, Musashi has also formed a strategic relationship with Bharat New-Energy Company (BNC) Motors in India. The company has also previously inked Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with Arc Ride in Kenya, EV Go in Vietnam, and Strom in Thailand, reiterating its commitment to supplying these esteemed organizations with Indian-made E-Axles.

By combining the engine and transmission to produce a compact and lightweight design, Musashi India’s 2-wheel E-Axle has achieved a remarkable achievement. By using its specialized understanding in gear processing, Musashi has revolutionized the driving experience by providing the best gearbox efficiency and lowest noise levels.

Musashi India’s entry into the electric mobility market is entirely consistent with government efforts to promote electric cars and lessen the nation’s carbon impact. With a focus on providing cutting-edge electric mobility solutions backed by extensive research and development, the company intends to hasten the adoption of EVs, solve environmental challenges, and enhance the whole driving experience for Indian customers.

An important spokesperson for Musashi India, Toshihisa Otsuka, expressed his enthusiasm for the company’s new foray into electric mobility, saying, “With our new venture into electric mobility, Musashi India aspires to be a frontrunner in the electric revolution in India, while also becoming a trusted partner for automakers, thus driving the transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable transportation ecosystem.”

Although Musashi has already had a significant impact in important areas like Japan, China, North America, and Europe, the business has high hopes for the Indian market. Musashi hopes to gain a sizable market share in India’s expanding electric mobility industry. Musashi anticipates a significant growth in the EV sector.
