Shaktikanta Das, Governor of the RBI, Is the Best Central Banker in the World

Shaktikanta Das, governor of the Reserve Bank of India, has been named the world’s best central banker by the US-based Global Finance publication.

In the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards 2023, Das received a “A+” rating.

The first of the three governors of central banks to get an A+ rating is Das.

According to a statement by Global Finance magazine, grades are based on a scale from A to F for achievement in inflation control, economic growth objectives, currency stability, and interest rate management.

An “A” denotes exemplary performance, whereas a “F” denotes complete failure.

Thomas J. Jordan, the governor of Switzerland, and Nguyen Thi Hong, the head of Vietnam’s central bank, are listed after Das.

Everyone is looking to their central banks for assistance in fighting inflation, which has been stoked by bottled-up demand and shattered supply systems, it added.

The annual Central Banker Report Cards from Global Finance honor bank governors whose plans exceeded those of their contemporaries via innovation, ingenuity, and perseverance, it added.

Roberto Campos Neto of Brazil, Amir Yaron of Israel, Harvesh Kumar Seegolam of Mauritius, and Adrian Orr of New Zealand were among the central bank governors who received a “A” rating.

Leonardo Villar of Colombia, Hector Valdez Albizu of the Dominican Republic, Asgeir Jonsson of Iceland, and Perry Warjiyo of Indonesia are just a few of the governors that received a “A-” rating.

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the Bank of Central African States, the Central Bank of West African States, and 101 other central banks are all rated in the Central Banker Report Cards, which Global Finance has been publishing annually since 1994.

The ‘Governor of the Year’ award was given to Das in June at the London Central Banking Awards 2023, it should be mentioned.
