Skoda has shortlisted 15 names for its competitor Sonet, Venue: details, launch date, and more

Recently, Skoda Auto India revealed that a new small SUV would be available. The brand-new SUV will have a length of less than four metres and be built on the MQB-A0-IN platform. In March 2025, exactly one year from today, the new model will be on sale. The business has already narrowed down its choice of 15 names for the next compact SUV before its introduction.

Participants have submitted ten more names, and the firm has selected five of them.

Kaiq, Kylaq, Kariq, Kwiq, Kaliq, Karmiq, Konarq, Kliq, Kamotiq, Kayaq, Kroniq, Kanishq, Kosmiq, Kyroq, and Kymaq are the names that make up the 15 nominated names. From these selected options, the firm now wants participants to choose and cast their vote for the name of its next subcompact SUV. New name suggestions are also welcome from the participants; the second round has started and will end on April 12, 2024.
The subcompact SUV’s name should only have one or two syllables and begin with the letter “K” and conclude with the letter “Q,” according to the firm. This is to be consistent with the names of its other Skoda SUVs, which are Kamiq, Kushaq, Karoq, and Kodiaq. Over 1,30,000 submissions were received by the brand, with over 20,000 of them being unique names.
Martin Jahn, a member of the Skoda Auto Board of Management for Sales and Marketing; Piyush Arora, MD and CEO of SAVIPL; Jan Bures, Executive Director of Sales, Marketing, and Digital at SAVIPL; and Petr Jeneba will make up the jury for this competition. The ten individuals who made the short list will get to see Prague, the Skoda museum, and headquarters in Mlada Boleslav, the Czech Republic, and one fortunate winner will get to take home a new compact SUV from Skoda.

The SUV that has not yet been named will use the same MQB-A0-IN platform as the Kushaq and Slavia. Its appearance is anticipated to be similar to previous Skoda models, with a streamlined LED DRL grille and split headlights. Regarding the engine and transmission, the next firm SUV is probably going to be propelled by a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 115 horsepower and 178 nm of torque. There will be a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter available for the gearbox.

The Volkswagen Virtus, Slavia, Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq already use this engine for their daily needs. When it is introduced, the new small SUV will compete in the Indian market against the Mahindra XUV 300, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and other sub-4 million SUVs. Pricing is anticipated to begin at Rs 8 lakh for the entry-level trim and go up to Rs 14 lakh for the top trim (both costs are believed to be ex-showroom).
