Wife of the seventh-richest man in the world was overheard complaining about the cost of a coffee cup; details inside

Astrid Buffett, wife of billionaire investor and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Warren Buffett, disproved the myth that wealthy individuals don’t often haggle and don’t consider pricing when making purchases on behalf of themselves and their family.

At Allen & Co.’s annual gathering in Idaho, US, 77-year-old Astrid Buffett was recently overheard moaning to staff about the cost of coffee.

Astrid was dissatisfied about having to spend $4 (about Rs 300) for coffee at the event, which is often referred to as a “summer camp for billionaires,” the New York Post said.

According to rumors, Buffett’s wife said that she “could get a pound of coffee” for the same cost elsewhere.

According to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, Berkshire Hathaway CEO and successful investor Warren Buffett is the seventh wealthiest person in the world with a net worth of $114 billion.

Since the billionaire lives and works in Omaha, Nebraska, investors carefully follow his market commentary and investing advice, earning him the nickname “the Oracle of Omaha.” Warren has a reputation for being economical, unlike other billionaires, because of his modest lifestyle. He continues to reside in the Omaha home he purchased in 1958 for roughly $31,500.

The 92-year-old’s longtime friend and American business mogul Bill Gates recently recounted the billionaire taking out a stack of coupons to pay for a McDonald’s lunch. In 2006, when he was 76 and Astrid was 60, Warren Buffett wed Astrid Menks. When Buffett was still wed to his first wife, Susan Thompson, the duo initially began dating. According to reports, Buffett’s first wife Thompson, who passed away in 2004, knew about the connection and approved of it.

According to The Post, Konditorei, a well-known pastry store and café with an Austrian flair that is housed within the upscale Sun Valley resort in Idaho, offers the cheapest caffeine fix for $4. According to research from the NPD Group, US coffee shops cost an average of $4.90 for a cup of coffee as of August 2017. In the meanwhile, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that in June 2023, the average price for a pound of coffee will be roughly $6.09.
