A timeless love story that defied social norms is Saira Banu-Dilip Kumar

In the 1960s and 1970s, Saira Banu, an actress, won over people’s hearts with her charisma. She had a lovely grin on her face and was elegantly beautiful. Saira Banu made the decision that she was in love and knew who she wanted to marry at a young age, when individuals don’t even know much about romance or love. Her romantic relationship with Dilip Kumar, who is 22 years her senior, and their happy 54-year marriage have been extensively chronicled throughout time. Saira Banu made her screen debut in 1961’s Junglee, costarring Shammi Kapoor.

Her first film was a huge sensation, and she was nominated for her first Filmfare for Best Actress. The majority of Saira Banu’s youth was spent in London, where her mother, Naseem Bano, a well-known actress in her own right in the 1940s, sent her daughter at first because she did not want her to pursue a career in movies. At sixteen, Naseem Bano accepted the offer of Junglee without protest.

Throughout her storied career, Saira Banu has starred in a number of popular movies. Among them, Shagird, Deewana, Sagina, and Padosan were noteworthy works that brought attention to her skill and brought her special praise and fame. Her tale of love with Dilip Kumar complements her illustrious career and notoriety. Saira Banu fell in love with Dilip Kumar the moment she saw him on film, when she was barely 12 years old.

Saira Banu went to the 1960 Mumbai Maratha Mandir premiere of Dilip Kumar’s masterpiece Mughal-e-Azam only to have a glimpse of her idol. Dilip Kumar was sadly unable to attend the screening. Afterwards, Naseem Bano acted as their matchmaker. Despite their significant age differences, Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar were married at the ages of 22 and 44, respectively. The couple has been married for 54 years and has never had children. At the age of 98, Dilip Kumar passed away in 2021.
