Actor Brian McCardie,59, of Line of Duty Passes Away “Suddenly At Home”

The actor Brian McCardie, who was most recognized for playing Tommy Hunter, the criminal lord in “Line of Duty,” has passed away. He was fifty-nine. According to The Hollywood Reporter, McCardie’s sister Sarah said on X that he passed away “suddenly at home” on Sunday.

We regret to inform you of the demise of Brian James McCardie, 59, who was a cherished son, brother, uncle, and close friend to a large number of people. On April 28, Brian unexpectedly passed away at home. Brian loved his craft and was a fantastic, passionate performer on stage and television, the author said.

“He passed away much too young, having impacted many lives. Please keep Brian in your prayers, as we love and miss him terribly. In the next few days, information on the funeral will be released. We would want some privacy right now as a family,” she said.

McCardie was born on January 22, 1965, and grew up close to Glasgow. One of his previous appearances was in the BBC serial opera EastEnders. In the first two seasons of the BBC drama Line of Duty (2012–14), the Scottish actor played Tommy Hunter, a gang leader turned police informant. More recently, he appeared in various British programs, including Time, Crime, The Tower, Domina, and the miniseries Rebellion. In addition, McCardie starred in the films Rob Roy, Filth, and The Damned United, in which he portrayed the renowned Scottish football player Dave Mackay.
