Lara Dutta says she didn’t think Bipasha Basu should have been in No Entry: “I received two role offers.”

With many notable parts under her resume, actress Lara Dutta Bhupathi is presently starring in the web series “Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond” as a powerbroker. During the show’s marketing, Lara spoke about how her choice to appear in comedic movies changed how people saw her in the business. The actress also said that Bipasha Basu ultimately took up one of the two parts given to her in ‘No Entry,’ directed by Anees Bazmee.

In an interview with IndianExpress.com, Lara spoke about the moment in her career that changed the path of her life. “That moment came when I did No Entry,” the woman said. It allowed me to dabble with the comic book genre for the first time and perhaps discover that I was really good at it. I was able to deliberately distance myself from a certain vision thanks to it.

“I was offered two roles, one of which Bipasha ultimately took and one of which I took,” she said. Since the suspicious Punjabi wife stood out from the rest of me, I chose her. That then prepared me for what I did for a good number of years and allowed me to collaborate with some of the top directors in our field. It solidified my standing as an actor.

The former Miss Universe said that she chose to pursue comedy in an effort to defy the stereotypes that were applied to her. She said she was tired of playing characters who could only be gorgeous. She emphasized that her engagement in humor contributed to the bulk of her successful films. She went on to say that her desire to express her playful and amusing side and break free from the limited idea of being connected only with glamor was the driving force behind her choice to explore comedy.

Lara Dutta also discussed rumors that she may portray Kaikeyi in Nitesh Tiwari’s “Ramayana.” In response to the claims, she said, “I hear it a lot too. I’m going to let the rumors stand. Please go on; I like reading and hearing about them as well. Who wouldn’t like to participate in the Ramayana? If I had been given the opportunity, I would have delighted to play so many characters—Surpanakha, Mandodari—I’d play them all, haha.
