Before launching a lucrative acting career of her own, the American wrestler-turned-actor served as the face of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) for more than ten years, from 2005 to 2016. However, Cena’s path to fame was not without hardship; he had to overcome several obstacles before landing his first job.

When John Cena’s goal of becoming a police officer was dashed

During his February 2018 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, John Cena discussed his early years and his journey into the world of professional wrestling. He said, “I had chosen professional wrestling as a hobby and did not know what to do with my life. I was living in a garage in Venice Beach, California.” I attempted to become a police officer but was likely going to enlist in the Marines after failing my CHP test. After learning about a wrestling training camp from a friend, he enrolled as a pastime and finally signed a contract with the WWE in 2002. John worked a variety of odd jobs at this period to support himself before his career as a wrestler took off. He used to work at the Gold’s Gym retail area in California as a limousine driver.

When John Cena was assaulted in a classroom

John Cena became interested in bodybuilding as a way to fight back against bullies when he was younger. According to MSN, Cena often suffered beatings from other students and was mocked and harassed at school. That’s why, at the age of twelve, he begged his parents for a weightlifting bench. He quickly started working on his physical appearance in an effort to protect himself from bullies. After graduation, this resulted in an amateur bodybuilding career, which prepared him for professional wrestling in his early 20s.

While still competing in the WWE, Cena made his acting debut in The Marine in 2006. However, it was in Trainwreck (2015) that he found his breakout performance and received critical praise. After that, he turned his attention to cinema and started working as a part-time wrestler in movies such as The Suicide Squad, F9 and Fast X, and Bumblebee. He received an estimated $4 million (about Rs 33 crore) for eight episodes in the 2022 TV series of the same name, where he played the DC anti-hero Peacemaker. According to Forbes, he will be worth around $80 million (Rs 650 crore) in 2023.
