Mumbai Police Files FIR Against Unidentified Person in Aamir Khan Deepfake Video

Actor Aamir Khan was seen endorsing a political party in a deepfake video that the Mumbai Police filed a FIR against on Wednesday, according to an official here.

Khan’s office filed a police report (FIR) at the Khar Police station, citing pertinent parts of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) such as 419 (impersonation), 420 (cheating), and other Information Technology Act sections.

Khan was heard discussing avoiding hyperbole in the alleged 27-second tape, which seemed to have been edited using artificial intelligence (AI) (jumla).

Although Khan has previously increased awareness via Election Commission efforts over the years, a representative for the actor said on Tuesday that he has never supported a political party.

Khan appears in a scene from a ten-year-old episode of his television program, “Satyamev Jayate,” in the contentious deepfake video.

We would like to make it clear that throughout his 35-year career, Mr. Aamir Khan has never sponsored a political party. In a statement, Khan’s representative said, “He has committed his efforts to raising awareness through Election Commission public awareness campaigns for many past elections.”

The latest viral video that purports to show Aamir Khan endorsing a certain political party has us concerned. He wants it made clear that this is a phony film that has no truth at all. According to a statement from Khan’s representative, “He has reported the matter to various authorities related to this issue, including filing a FIR with the Cyber Crime Cell of the Mumbai Police.”
