Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s separation prior to “Ek Tha Tiger”: “It was a discordant parting,” remarks Kabir Khan

Famous for his successful movies Ek Tha Tiger, New York, and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, director Kabir Khan has disclosed how he and Aditya Chopra brought back former lovers Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif for YRF’s Tiger Franchise. They had just broken up, and their relationship was uncomfortable. Afterwards, Kabir Khan said that he didn’t believe himself when Salman Khan accepted the project.

For Mashable India’s The Bombay Dreams, Kabir Khan said to casting director Mukesh Chhabra, “We were heading back from Salman’s house.” On this day, Salman ultimately agreed to work on the movie. Katrina had signed on to the movie previously. It was Zoya. To me, Katrina is like family. She is very close to me, the kids, and Mini (Mathur). Vicky is now a vital member of our family as well. We then proceeded to Salman. It wasn’t really comfortable since this was the point at which they had split up. He was aware of my relationship with Katrina when I told him I wanted her.

Kabir went on to say that they found the casting to be really funny. He said, “We were quiet as Adi (Aditya Chopra) and I drove back to Yash Raj Studios from Salman’s residence, Galaxy (flat), since we had just cast Salman Khan for Tiger (Ek Tha Tiger) for the first picture, and Katrina was already there. I believe we were quiet for five to ten minutes before he remarked, “Friend, this is incredible casting.” Yaar bahot badi casting hai. And we made the announcement the very following day.

For those who don’t know, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif dated for four years. According to reports, they broke up in 2009. Katrina Kaif then started dating Ranbir Kapoor. But eventually, their romance also ended. Following their split, Katrina Kaif began dating Vicky Kaushal. They did, however, maintain their relationship a secret for a time until releasing their first wedding photos in December 2021.
