Social media explodes when Orry refuses to shake hands with an influential person

Popular influencer Orhan Awatramani, often known as Orry, threatened to sue content creator Ruchika Lohiya over an offensive Instagram video, sparking a furious controversy on social media. Orry allegedly refused a handshake at a public event in favour of a fist bump, according to Lohiya’s viral video, which sparked a conversation and a rush of responses online.

Lohiya described meeting Orry at an event and expressing her appreciation for the influencer in the now-widely shared video. She said, however, that Orry’s management stepped in and forbade any pictures. Lohiya reportedly felt that Orry snubbed her handshake attempt with a fist bump, even though she had respected this request.

Just two days after it was posted, the film had over 4.1 million views, drawing both praise and condemnation. In reaction, Orry moved to the comments section, angrily denying ever having known Lohiya in the past and raising worries about possible health hazards related to public handshakes.
More debate erupted after Orry’s response, with some supporting his position on personal limits and others accusing him of exaggerating. Orry questioned Lohiya’s intentions in his statement, calling the video a publicity stunt and objecting to what he saw as an infringement on his personal space and disdain for his management.
Reflecting on the duties of influencers and the hazy borders between private and public contacts, the incident has sparked conversations about consent, limits, and public etiquette in the digital age.
