Sonnalli Seygall Calls Deepfake Video of Rashmika Mandanna “Very Scary”

Following the appearance on social media of a deepfake video purporting to show Rashmika Mandanna boarding an elevator, there has been a general outrage against the improper use of technology and the lack of sufficient legal protections. The “Animal” actress expressed her disapproval of the film by saying, “I have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online and I feel really hurt to share this.” Since technology is being overused these days, not only am I terrified of anything like this, but I think this is terrifying for all of us as well.

Following the public support and calls for legal action made by Amitabh Bachchan, Mrunal Thakur, and Naga Chaitanya for the actress, Sonalli Seygall also discussed the matter and recalled an incident that had occurred with her in the past.

The actress revealed in an India Today interview. “I’ve experienced it before, but it was in the form of images rather than a film. That was also a very, very terrifying time. Actually, my mother brought it to my attention. My mother is quite credulous, so at the time, when it was also fresh, she was unable to comprehend. It had an impact on her. What are these photographs of yours, she asked? And I thought, “They’ve changed; they’re not really mom.” Thus, it’s rather depressing. It enrages me and is frightening. It is wholly unlawful, and the fact that anonymous individuals are engaging in this behavior does not, by any means, justify it.

Regarding Rashmika’s deepfake video, she exclaimed, “Oh my God, it’s terrifying.” Really, really terrifying. Of course, it was always up for debate since we have all seen it before with images, but this is really genuine. It’s so unlawful, you know. It is imperative that issue be addressed right now. Since anything can be done with everything that is accessible online, I don’t feel secure as a female or as a person. Social media, Google, and our phones all have a large portion of our life available to us online.

Even the original video’s lady responded to the altered version recently. For those who don’t know, Zara Patel is the lady in the original video. She’s an influencer from Britain. On October 9, the original video was released. Later, Rashmika Mandanna’s face was added. In response to the deepfake video, Zara expressed her displeasure with the current state of affairs and warned people to be skeptical of anything they come across online.

“Hello everyone, I just discovered that someone used my body and the face of a well-known Bollywood actress to produce a deepfake video. Despite not having anything to do with the deepfake video, I’m really troubled and offended by what’s going on. Concerning women and girls, who now have to worry even more about posting anything on social media, I worry about their future. Please stand back and verify the information you find online. She said on her Instagram Stories that “not everything on the internet is real.”
