Which Song Is Thalapathy Vijay’s Favorite? Hint: It’s From His Ghilli Film From 2004

As Thalapathy Vijay begins his political career, he is about to open a whole new chapter in his life. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, his recently established party, will run in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections of 2026. After his forthcoming films Thalapathy 69 and GOAT, the actor has said that he would soon be leaving the film industry, citing a change in concentration towards politics. That does not imply that he won’t appear in a big screen production in the future. Releasing classic Tamil movies is still a trend. A lot of them are performing surprisingly well at the box office. After the actor stops performing, Thalapathy Vijay’s previous movies will probably continue to be shown on huge screens.

Regarding the re-release of Thalapathy Vijay’s flicks, Ghilli (2004) was his most recent film to do so. With the unwavering devotion of its fans, Ghilli has become an extraordinary success, making history as the highest-grossing re-release movie in India for the twenty-first century. Industry tracker Sacnilk reports that after just nine days of its re-release, the film made almost Rs 20 crore in the local market.

Even though Ghilli is undoubtedly a crowd favorite, Thalapathy Vijay finds unique meaning in the movie for himself. A previously unreleased video of Thalapathy Vijay talking about his favorite song has him conversing with a few pupils. When asked which song is his favorite, Thalapathy Vijay replies that Arjunar Villu from the film Ghilli is it. He refers to the tune as a “full mass track.” In the song, Thalapathy Vijay is seen speeding along with Trisha after beating up some thugs. He described Arjunar Villu as an upbeat song and said that he always puts this song on while he drives.

On April 14, Vijay’s GOAT released his debut song in time for Tamil New Year’s celebrations. The song is called Whistle Podu, and composer Yuvan Shankar Raja’s rhythms have been vocalized by Thalapathy Vijay.
