45 passengers are killed when a bus in South Africa plunges off a bridge

Cape Town: According to reports from police, a bus full of believers was travelling to an Easter celebration when it crashed off a bridge on a mountain pass. The bus burst into flames and killed at least 45 people.

According to provincial authorities in Limpopo, the lone survivor, an eight-year-old kid, had severe injuries and was in the process of seeking medical assistance.

The bus went off the Mmamatlakala bridge, falling 164 feet into a ravine and catching fire, resulting in the deadly tragedy.
Although there are ongoing rescue operations, several victims remain trapped within the car and cannot be identified due to the raging flames.
Based on preliminary accounts, the bus was on an Easter pilgrimage from Botswana to Moria town when the driver seemed to lose control, leading to the terrible occurrence.
Sindisiwe Chikunga, the minister of transport, changed her itinerary to visit the scene of the incident when she was in the province of Limpopo on a road safety programme.
She acknowledged that an inquiry is still underway to ascertain the cause of the disaster and offered her sympathies to the families of the dead.
At a time when there is an increase in road traffic and related concerns, the Easter holidays are when the South African government usually releases cautions about road safety.
200 people lost their lives in traffic accidents during the Easter weekend in only the previous year. The Zionist Christian Church’s headquarters are located in Moria, which sees a significant inflow of believers during its Easter pilgrimage, attracting people from all around South Africa and neighbouring countries.
The pilgrimage to Moria this year represents a dramatic comeback after the COVID-19 pandemic’s setbacks.
