After the Gaza War, United Airlines will be the first US airline to start operating flights to Israel

Washington: United Airlines, the first American airline to do so since Hamas terrorists attacked southern Israel on October 7, said on Wednesday that it intends to start operating direct flights from the United States to Israel early next month.
In the wake of the incident, United, American Airlines, and Delta Air Lines all halted US flights to Israel in October.

United, a Chicago-based airline, said that it would start operating again from Newark to Tel Aviv next month, but it won’t start operating again from other US locations until at least this autumn.

The resumption of US carrier flights to Tel Aviv heralds a possible sea change in the direction of travel to Israel, as interest in the country declined due to security concerns after the Hamas attack and Israel’s subsequent bombing of Gaza.
United said that it plans to start operating a Boeing 787-10 daily nonstop service from Newark to Tel Aviv on March 6.
The airline said that it would fly from Newark to Tel Aviv on March 2 and March 4, stopping in Munich, Germany. On March 3 and March 5, the airline will fly back from Israel to Newark.
The airline said that it “conducted a detailed safety analysis in making this decision, including close work with security experts and government officials in the United States and Israel.”
A request for comment was not immediately answered by the Israeli Embassy in Washington.
United Airlines said that it “will continue to monitor the situation in Tel Aviv and adjust the schedule as warranted, including changes to the resumed service from New York/Newark announced today.”
Prior to October 7, United had four daily direct flights from Newark, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington to Tel Aviv. The flights for which service has not yet been restored, according to the airline, “will be evaluated for resumption beginning in the fall.”
Airlines including Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, Aegean, and Air France have resumed service to Tel Aviv.
American Airlines has suspended flights to Israel until October 28, while Delta has canceled flights through April 30. In October of last year, around thirty US politicians pushed the airlines to start operating again to Israel “as soon as possible.”
