UK: Eight people are detained after an Indian restaurant manager was slain while riding home on Valentine’s Day

London: Authorities in the United Kingdom have reported that a 36-year-old manager of an Indian restaurant perished in a traffic accident last week while riding home.

Eight people have been arrested this week in connection with the British police’s murder investigation into the death of Vignesh Pattabhiraman in Reading.
Pattabhiraman was riding his bike home from work at the Indian restaurant Vel in Reading, southeast England, when he collided with a car at the intersection of Cadugan Place and the city. He was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital and later pronounced dead, according to Thames Valley Police.

Shazeb Khalid, 24, was detained by police on suspicion of the murder in this respect. He was subsequently charged and made an appearance at Reading Magistrates Court on Wednesday. Seven males from the same city, ages 20, 21, 24, 27, 31, 41, and 48, who were all detained on suspicion of aiding an offender, have all been freed on bond.

The family of Mr. Raman, who is receiving assistance from highly qualified officers, is in our thoughts and prayers, said Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Brangwin, Senior Investigating Officer, Major Crime Unit, Thames Valley Police. “Attainments have been made, and we are still looking into the circumstances surrounding his death. Using this occasion, I would want to once again ask anybody with knowledge to please contact Thames Valley Police,” he said.

The inquiry concerning Pattabhiraman’s demise is still ongoing.
Major Crime Unit detectives said that as long as their investigation is ongoing, there would be a noticeable police presence in the neighborhood to answer any public concerns. In the meanwhile, Pattabhiraman’s friends and family launched an only Giving charity campaign to gather money for his wife Ramya’s funeral expenses and aid with repatriation expenses after the “senseless tragedy.” In only a few days, the campaign earned almost GBP 39,000.

“Vignesh was a dedicated restaurant manager at Vel, where he gave his all to his profession and was recognized for his very kind disposition, excellent customer service skills, and strong work ethics. The website states, “His goal of working in the hotel industry as a senior manager was within reach, with an exciting opportunity awaiting him at Hyatt Regency Mayfair London.”

“We are coming together to help Vignesh’s bereaved family get through this unbearably trying moment. According to the charity initiative website, “Your kind donations will provide much-needed financial assistance to help cover the cost of his repatriation and funeral expenses, support his grieving wife, Ramya, and ease the burden on his family as they navigate this profound loss.”
