Ukraine needs more tanks, Russian Defense Minister Shoigu tells the Kremlin

After Kiev started a counteroffensive with Western weapons on Saturday, Sergei Shoigu, Ukraine’s defense minister, urged for additional tanks to be produced “to meet the needs of Russian forces” in that country.

According to the defence ministry, Shoigu, who recently paid a visit to a military facility in western Siberia, emphasized the necessity “to maintain the increased production of tanks” and stronger security measures in armored vehicles.

In addition, it noted that Shoigu stated that this was required “to satisfy the needs of Russian forces carrying out the special military operation” that Moscow had initiated in Ukraine in February of last year.

While Ukraine claims it has retaken numerous towns and around 100 square kilometers of terrain, mostly on the southern front, Moscow maintains the Ukrainian counteroffensive has failed.
