Chef Lakhan Singh wins the first edition of the Biryani Champions League in Delhi on World Biryani Day 2023
The first-ever ‘Daawat Biryani Champions League’ in New Delhi was won by Chef Lakhan Singh of Marketplace restaurant. Five well-known professional chefs from Delhi competed in the tournament, which was recently conducted at the ITC Sheraton, in a 90-minute live biryani cooking challenge.
Chefs Laxman Singh (YBiryani), Mohammad Shaan (Khan Chacha), Lakhan Singh (Marketplace Restaurant), Moinuddin (Impresario Resto), and Raphe Azam (Biryani by CTJ) were among the contestants. The tournament honored the outstanding talent and originality of professional chefs who brought the mouthwatering biryani experiences to life.
A team of judges, including renowned culinary critic Vir Sanghvi, celebrity chef Manjit Gill, and chef-restaurateur Vanshika Bhatia, chose the champion of the “Daawat Biryani Champions League.”
Chef Lakhan Singh remarked, “I feel tremendously blessed and truly appreciative for being conferred with the renowned title of ‘Daawat Biryani Champion’ of Delhi, in expressing his happiness and thanks for winning the tournament. I was given the opportunity to demonstrate my deep love and commitment to creating delicious Biryanis thanks to this amazing competition. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to LT Foods Ltd., in particular the brand “Daawat,” for recognizing the efforts made by cooks like myself in this Biryani wave.
The CEO of LT Foods Ltd.’s India Business & Far East division, Ritesh Arora, gave a speech at the event and stated, “Many congratulations to Chef Lakhan Singh for winning the first-ever ‘Daawat Biryani Champions League’ in Delhi. His triumph embodies the wonderful tastes and artistic craftsmanship that Biryani stands for. The tournament was conducted on June 19 in Kolkata, and Chef Sarfaraz Hossain of Al – Faiz Family Restaurant & Caterers was chosen as the winner.
