Following the success of her Folkin Rani EP, Punjabi pop singer Simran Choudhary released her most recent song, Ni Bhabi. This song makes me think of traditional Punjabi folk songs called geets that are performed during weddings. This song is going to be the year’s biggest dance hit because of its catchy tempo and lighthearted lyrics.
Ni Bhabi tells the entertaining story of a brother-in-law who asks his sister-in-law for guidance on how to impress his love interest, all set to upbeat instrumentals. The song perfectly conveys the spirit of friendship and companionship between a bhabi and a devar with its upbeat tone and throbbing beat. With the help of Aden’s deep male voice, who also produced the song, composer and songwriter Raja adds depth to the story.
“Working on Ni Bhabi was an exciting experience,” Simran says. Ni Bhabi gave me the freedom to experiment with other sounds while adhering to my heritage as the vocalist and composer.
