A Chhattisgarh BJP worker was killed by “naxalities” in Bijapur while returning from a wedding

In Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, a local BJP employee was slain by alleged Naxalites on Friday night, according to authorities. According to a senior official, the event occurred as the deceased, Tirupati Katla, a BJP member of the Janpad Panchayat, was attending a wedding in Toynar village.

Katla was assaulted with sharp-edged weapons as soon as he left the event location. The official said that after being taken to the Bijapur district hospital, he passed away from his wounds.

“Unknown individuals attacked Tirupati Katla, a (BJP) Janpad Panchayat member, while he was at his relative’s wedding in Toynar village (in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh).” After being taken to the hospital quickly, he passed away from his wounds. The case is being investigated, according to Bijapur SP Jitendra Yadav, who was cited by PTI.

In addition to expressing his sorrow for Tirupati Katla’s passing, BJP spokesman Kedar Gupta promised that “his martyrdom will not be wasted.”

“His family has my sincere sympathies, and I promise that his sacrifice will not go to waste. The state’s BJP administration is dedicated to combating naxalism, according to Gupta.

In the course of a year, there have been seven cases of suspected Naxalites murdering BJP leaders or members in Maoist-affected districts of Chhattisgarh.

Ratan Dubey, the vice president of the BJP’s Narayanpur district unit, was assassinated by Maoists before to the assembly elections in November 2023. While Dubey was campaigning for the Assembly elections, he was killed with a sharp-edged weapon in the Kaushalnar market area under the Jharaghati police station area, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Hemsagar Sidar.

In the Bijapur district in June 2023, a local BJP leader was assassinated by Naxalites; in the Bastar division in February of the previous year, three BJP politicians were killed in separate events.
