A Delhi court denies Kavitha’s request for release

A Delhi court denied BRS leader K Kavitha’s request for temporary release on Monday in the money-laundering case involving the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy.

According to reports, her lawyer, Nitesh Rana said that the CBI had circumvented the legal procedure by requesting permission to interview her “behind her back” in a petition. He voiced worries that, while the CBI looks into the corruption aspect of the excise policy fraud, it may not have revealed all relevant information in order to get a favorable ruling from the court.

Additionally, the advocate requested that the court revoke the April 5 order permitting Kavitha to be questioned while in judicial custody until her position was heard and considered. The CBI requested more time to respond to Kavitha’s petition, thus the next hearing date was set for April 10.
