After losing the RS vote, CM no longer has the right to proceed: Jai Ram Thakur LoP for Himachal

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has lost the moral right to hold office after the Rajya Sabha loss, according to Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, since it is a reflection on his leadership.

Speaking at a news conference held here today, he claimed that even the Central leadership and observers acknowledged that the reason for the situation was the leadership’s inability to include all of the party’s lawmakers. “The chief minister ought to have resigned and accepted accountability for the party’s humiliation and loss in the Rajya Sabha election,” he said.

According to Thakur, the party high command has been informed by a number of state Congress groups that a leadership change in Himachal Pradesh is necessary. Given the Lok Sabha elections, the high command most likely felt it prudent to hold off on changing the leadership at this time. Thus, everyone was instructed to hold off until the parliamentary election was over, according to the former chief minister.

Notwithstanding the Congress’s majority in the Assembly, Thakur said that the budget for 2024–25 could only be approved with the suspension of 15 BJP MLAs. He added, “Congress is rattled with all poll surveys predicting that the BJP will win 400 seats and will get 63 percent of the votes in Himachal by winning all four Lok Sabha seats.” He continued by saying that after the election results on June 4, the Congress administration in Himachal Pradesh will collapse.

According to the former chief minister, Congress was attempting to intimidate the workers by threatening to remove the OPS if the BJP won. “I want it to be very clear that I do not support the politics of vendetta, unlike the Congress, which shut down more than 1,000 institutions that we founded,” he said.

He said, “It is no secret that the Chief Minister prioritized his friends over elected representatives, which ought to be the standard in a democracy.”

In addition, Thakur attacked the Chief Minister for attempting to mislead women by saying that they would start receiving Rs. 1500 in April. Furthermore, the Congress is attempting to assign responsibility to the BJP for halting this funding. However, the truth is that neither the budget nor any financial allocation made reference to the initiative, and he merely made the hasty announcement in light of the Lok Sabha elections, according to Thakur. He said that in the previous fifteen months, the government ought to have handed women Rs 1,500.
