Ahead of the PM’s journey to Srinagar, security personnel are on high alert

According to the authorities, cars are being randomly checked by the police and paramilitary troops at many locations around the city and beyond.

As a precaution, they claimed, special checkpoints have been installed at many locations across the city, including the entrance and departure ports.

As part of an area dominance exercise, the security forces have stepped up patrols surrounding the rally site to make sure the Prime Minister’s visit goes smoothly and incident-free.

The Prime Minister will be visiting the Kashmir Valley for the first time after Article 370 was repealed in August 2019.

In as many months, this will be his second trip to Jammu & Kashmir. Last month, PM Modi traveled to the Jammu area to officially launch a number of development initiatives. He also spoke at a Jammu public gathering.
