Amit Shah thinks the Modi government has made foreign policy more clear

NEW DELHI: Home Minister Amit Shah said on Monday that the Modi government had brought clarity to foreign policy, which now focuses on maintaining friendship with the entire world without compromising the security of the nation or its citizens. He stated that India had no dedicated policies for internal and external security since Independence until 2014, with decisions related to these issues being largely driven by its foreign policy for these matters.

Shah remarked, “Modi ji has presented the country’s internal and external security policy to the world with thrust, and the world has also respected our rights,” during the opening of the ORF Foreign Policy Survey and a lecture titled “Security Beyond Tomorrow: Forging India’s Resilient Future.”
86% of respondents to the ORF Foreign policies Survey-2023 expressed appreciation for India’s foreign policies.
According to Shah, India has successfully constructed a robust internal security network and has achieved significant advancements in the area of internal security over the last ten years, all thanks to its clear strategy. “Bharat has achieved political stability, corruption-free governance, public welfare, an investor-friends agenda, and a peaceful environment in the last ten years under PM Modi,” he said.
Declaring that the previous governments’ appeasement strategy and misguided policies were to blame for a number of internal security issues, including violence and unrest in Jammu and Kashmir, left-wing extremism, and insurgency in the Northeast, Shah claimed thousands of innocent civilians and security personnel had died as a result. He said, “Since 2014, the Modi government has implemented a zero-tolerance policy and developed a plan to destroy the terror network as a whole.”
Consequently, he said, there were 62% fewer violent events overall between 2004 and 2014 (33,000) and 2014 and 2023 (12,466). According to Shah, the overall mortality toll decreased by 72% over the comparable period. Shah claimed the Modi government had given tablets and laptops to the previously stone-pelting J&K youngsters after reading down Article 370 and Article 35A, which were encouraging secession.
Comparably, by bringing development and welfare programs to the people, as well as by bolstering security measures, the “whole of government” strategy has assisted in reducing the base of support that left-wing radicals have in the public. LWE violence has decreased as a result by 75%. By negotiating nine peace accords in the previous nine years and forcing 9,000 adolescents to integrate into society, the insurgency has also been substantially restrained in the northeast.
Shah said that border-to-border and people-to-people connection has been reinforced and stated that no nation is safe without secure borders. In 6,000 border settlements, the Vibrant Village Program has reached 100% penetration of 300 government projects.
Shah said that in addition to enacting a zero-tolerance stance against terrorism, a number of legislative measures had been taken to strengthen the legal system. This includes the recent adoption of three new laws to update the criminal justice system, as well as significant revisions to the UAPA.
