Andhra Pradesh High Court orders building at Bheemili Beach to stop

On Wednesday, the Andhra Pradesh High Court gave authorities the order to cease development near the beach in Bheemili. It said that any machinery being utilized for the beachside building project has to be confiscated right once.

The Public Interest Litigation (PIL) brought by Jana Sena Party corporator P Murthy Yadav against the purported constructions near the Bheemili beach that violate the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) standards and the official inactivity was heard by the court when the orders were given.

The case was being heard by the bench consisting of Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Rao Raghunandan Rao. K Srinivasa Murthy, the petitioner’s attorney, informed the court that permanent building had been done near the beach, in violation of CRZ regulations.

VMRDA attorney T Surya Kiran promised to submit a response. The petitioner had put images before the judge, and the bench ordered the authorities to cease building right away. After four weeks, the matter was posted.

Rushikonda row: Center requests two weeks for HC to get report

In order to present the report of the panel formed by the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change—which investigated the purported breach of CRZ norms in the constructions undertaken by the AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) on Rushikonda—to the High Court, the Center has requested two weeks’ notice.

TDP MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna and JSP corporator P Murthy Yadav have each filed a separate PIL over the structures’ master plan breaches and CRZ infractions.

The Centre’s attorney, Jupudi Venkat Yagnadat, told the court that Kuppuswamy Gourappan, the head of the committee, had died away and asked for two weeks to submit the report.
