Army Chief opens cutting-edge IT lab at Uzbek school

During his current tour to Uzbekistan, Indian Army Chief Gen. Manoj Pande inaugurated a state-of-the-art IT laboratory facility on Wednesday that also included a state-of-the-art cybersecurity lab, according to sources.

According to Indian Army officials, the move marks a turning point in the two countries’ defense relations and comes after a pledge made during the September 2018 meeting of defense ministers.

From April 15 to 18, General Pande will be in Uzbekistan to investigate potential opportunities for mutual military cooperation.

In addition to touring many defense facilities, he is expected to have extensive discussions with the nation’s senior military officials in Central Asia, the Defense Ministry had previously said in a statement.

Gen. Pande opened a state-of-the-art IT lab at the Uzbek Academy of Armed Forces, which is a major step toward deepening bilateral relations between India and Uzbekistan, the sources added.

Modern technology is featured throughout the lab, which includes nine rooms with two lecture halls, a server room, a multimedia room, a virtual reality room, a hardware programming lab, an object-oriented programming lab, a web programming lab, and a state-of-the-art cybersecurity lab, according to their statement.

Other amenities include interactive panels, networking devices, videoconferencing terminals, and a variety of computer hardware, including a lot of high-end PCs, workstations, and laptops in addition to printers, cameras, scanners, and storage devices.
