Two arrested for assaulting a journalist in Tiruppur

Two Erode suspects were taken into custody by a special police squad on Thursday in relation to the Wednesday night assault on 30-year-old Nesaprabhu, a reporter for a Tamil TV station, in Palladam. Saravanan of Tiruppur and Praveen of Erode were named as the suspects.

Chief Minister MK Stalin, meanwhile, put Kamanaickenpalayam police inspector P Ravi on a waiting list for neglecting to answer Nesaprabhu’s plea for assistance. Nesaprabhu, who is being treated at a private hospital in Coimbatore, received `3 lakh from the journalist welfare fund as well, according to the chief minister.

Nesaprabhu of Kamanaickenpalayam in Palladam reportedly phoned the Kamanaickenpalayam police on Wednesday at 9:45 p.m. after seeing a group pursuing him on his way home. However, the responding policeman instructed him to come to the station to file a complaint.

The alleged audio recording of the exchange has being widely shared. “I’m afraid for my life because two motorcyclists are moving suspiciously and they don’t have a license plate. I heard Nesaprabhu plead, “Please help me.” “Tell me the bike’s registration number and color,” the policeman responds.

He got a vehicle and drove to the Kamanaickenpalayam police station out of fear of being attacked. He stopped at a gas station on the way and called the cops once again. “Two motorcycles who had followed me all day are now riding quickly ahead of me. There are five automobiles here at my location. I’m at a loss on what to do. My life has ended. I lost my life,” he said to the cops.

After that, he sought refuge in a chamber inside a gasoline bunk, but the gang forced it open and used sharp objects to assault him. Nesaprabhu was saved by locals, who then took him to Palladam GH for admission before sending him to a Coimbatore private hospital. Four teams of Kamanaickenpalayam police investigators were assembled after a case was filed.

Leaders of the BJP, AMMK, PMK, and MDMK denounced the event on Thursday. In Tiruppur, reporters protested in front of the collectorate. Nesaprabhu was visited in hospital by TN Minister for Information & Publicity P Saminathan and Union Minister of State for Broadcasting L Murugan.

According to Mohankumar, Nesaprabhu’s brother, he had surgery after suffering serious injuries to his hands and legs. He’s being watched. He told TNIE, “Police agreed to provide us the FIR document, but we haven’t gotten it yet.

According to P Saminathan, Superintendent of Police, an IPC section 307 complaint has been filed. “The police officers who initially answered the reporter’s call were unaware of how serious the situation was,” he said. Nesaprabhu was recognized by the SB inspector because to his phone number. “Praveen and Saravanan, who were arrested in Erode, confessed that it was a revenge attack,” stated DIG Saravana Sunder of Coimbatore. A thorough investigation will reveal the details.
