All For A BMW: Driver Kills Senior, Drives Away, Gets Arrested

In an unbelievable instance, a driver murdered his senior recruiter in order to take his BMW. On September 20, the decomposing corpse of the 71-year-old was discovered at a home in Bengal’s Dum Dum neighborhood’s Nagerbazar. According to the police, the driver first attempted to portray himself as having just driven off in the BMW after being apprehended, but eventually broke down and confessed.

After the corpse of the missing person, identified as Kalyan Bhattacharya, was discovered, Rajrupa Dasgupta, his niece, reported the incident to the police, and an investigation was started. Later, on September 22, police detained Sourav Mondal, the driver of Bhattarcharya.

Kalyan Bhattacharya, a single man who loved his BMW dearly, advertised for a driver for it, but he never used the same person every time. On September 10, Mondal had arrived to operate the vehicle.

“The driver essentially wanted the BMW for himself, so he initially requested the owner to let him take the car for a drive,” stated Barrackpore Deputy Commissioner (South) Ajay Prasad. The proprietor, however, declined. Prasad continued by claiming that Bhattacharya had barred Mondal because of his persistent pestering of him. “On the day of the murder, Mondal broke into his home by climbing the boundary wall, for which Bhattacharya reprimanded him. As a result, the driver killed Bhattacharya and fled in the BMW, according to Prasad.

After murdering Bhattacharya, the driver reportedly secured his home and drove off with his pals in the BMW to Digha town in Bengal.Alok Rajoria, the commissioner of Barrackpore, said, “This incidence raises worries since many older individuals now live alone. We must raise awareness about using licensed agencies when hiring drivers and other helpers. He said that senior citizen outreach programs are already in place, and they would now be expanded.

Concern has grown about attacks on older adults, particularly those who live alone. According to experts, the government should implement a strategy to accredit organizations as safe to provide services to elderly residents.
