At least 100 Delhi NCR schools have received bomb threats; investigations revealed nothing, according to police

On Wednesday, emails containing bomb threats were sent to at least 100 schools in the Delhi-NCR region. This caused pandemonium and widespread fear, but authorities urged people not to worry as “nothing objectionable” was discovered.

Following the notification of the local police about the threat emails, the schools were evacuated.

As of Wednesday at midday, Delhi Fire Service (DFS) reported that at least 97 calls had come in from various schools. An officer said that they are actively attending to every call.

The bomb threat was also sent to many private schools located in Noida and Greater Noida.

It seems to be a fake threat, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs, so there’s no need to freak out.

Delhi Police claimed that after thoroughly inspecting every school that received the bomb threat, they had not discovered anything.

“Bomb threats were mentioned in emails sent to a few Delhi schools. Delhi Police said in a post on X that they had thoroughly inspected each of these institutions in accordance with policy.

Nothing offensive has been discovered. These calls seem to be a fraud, it seems. It continued, “We want the people to be calm and not get alarmed.

The email is believed to have been sent from one source to schools in Delhi, as well as the neighboring cities of Noida and Greater Noida, according to Delhi police authorities.

According to sources, the letters are sent to all schools with the identical content.

Concerning the bomb threat, the Union Home Ministry called it a “hoax” and advised people not to worry.

The ministry said that police and security services are following procedure and taking the appropriate actions.

“There’s no need to freak out. The emails seem to be a scam. According per procedure, Delhi Police and security services are taking the required actions,” a home ministry official said.

According to Noida Police, every one of these schools that got the emails was carefully investigated. According to Additional Commissioner of Police (law and order), Shivhari Meena, the bomb threat was discovered to be a fake.

“This morning a threatening email was received by a chain of schools after which police teams responded to the situation immediately,” stated Additional CP Meena.

“Every one of these schools that was threatened was examined in detail and cleaned out. It is established that the email was sent in order to start a rumor, and no such thing (threat) has surfaced elsewhere,” he said.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena responded to the situation by writing on X that he had spoken with the police commissioner and requested a thorough investigation into the bomb threats made at Delhi-NCR schools.

He asked parents not to worry and to work with the administration to secure the safety of schools and the children. “Directed Delhi Police to carry out a thorough search in school premises, identify the culprits and ensure there are no lapses,” he added.

“The miscreants and culprits will not be spared,” he said.

Atishi, the minister of education for Delhi, also posted on X, urging parents not to fear, stating, “Some schools have received bomb threats this morning.” Delhi Police have evacuated the students and are now searching the area. Nothing has been discovered in any of the schools so far.

“We communicate with the police and the schools on a regular basis. Would ask residents and parents not to freak out. When necessary, parents will be contacted by school administrators, according to Atishi.

Images from the Mother’s Mary school in Mayur Vihar showed worried parents gathering outside the building to retrieve their kids.

Using the microphone, the school administration was heard announcing things as parents hurried to pick up their children.

Ten to fifteen minutes ago, I dropped off my kid. Then, I got a call from the school telling me to pick up my kid because of an emergency,” a father named Vijay Kumar stated.

“I had arrived to drop off my kids. I saw that a large crowd had gathered here and that sounds from within the school could be heard. Manoj Kumar, a father of a youngster enrolled in the school, who lives nearby, stated, “We asked and received no good answer.

Similar images of parents hurrying to pick up their children were seen outside Chanakyapuri’s Sanskriti School.

While bomb disposal squads and explosives detection teams were searching the schools, fire trucks, ambulances, and police car lines were seen outside the buildings on standby.

Another mom, Kirti, claimed to have dropped her kid off to BGS International School in Dwarka and to have been waiting outside for him to enter when she seen him coming back with school personnel.

“As per usual, I was waiting outside the school when I saw my kid and the whole staff coming back. I was very concerned.”I asked my son to sit on the scooter right away when some people shouted that there was a bomb in the school,” the mother added.

Many schools contacted parents and sent notes urging them to pick up their children as soon as possible from school.

Bomb disposal teams and sniffer dogs were sent to the schools in Noida as well as soon as they got the warning. As a precaution, the twin cities’ overall security was stepped up.

An anonymous email sender threatened Delhi Public School (DPS) branches in Noida and Greater Noida as well as a few other institutions, according to Noida police authorities.

Concerned about their children’s safety, parents and guardians also flocked to other schools that had not received bomb threats with questions.

Police authorities said that preliminary investigations indicate that since Tuesday, mail seems to have been distributed in several places with a similar pattern.
