Bengal School Job Scam: ED Tracking Scam Proceeds Being Used For Election Campaign Expenses

The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is looking into the multi-billion dollar West Bengal school recruitment case, is now looking into the possibility that some of the alleged scam proceeds were used by a particular political party to pay for election expenses during the earlier this year held campaign for two northeastern states.

The costs expended by that specific political party for its leaders’ frequent trips to the state capitals of these two northeastern states, as well as the costs incurred for lodging and other connected costs there, are being scrutinized.

According to a source, the central agency investigators have some clear indications that the majority of the costs expended under this heading were paid for in cash. Because of this, the investigating officers are curious about the origins of this money and don’t believe that any of the funds raised via school recruiting were used for campaign purposes in these two northeastern states.

Sources claim that some documents taken from the possession of two accused middlemen in the school recruitment case who are already being held in custody for their alleged involvement in the cash-for-job scam case have provided the ED sleuths with some preliminary clues about the scam proceeds being used for campaigning in these two northeastern states.

The two apprehended accused people’s contacts who were mostly in charge of organizing these campaign-related costs, where the majority of payments were made in cash, have also been revealed to the ED sleuths. They may soon get a summons from ED, who will question them about the situation.

The ED recently told the Calcutta High Court’s single-judge bench of Justice Amrita Sinha that its investigators had so far attached property worth Rs 126.70 crore in relation to the school recruiting case. The central organization has blocked a number of bank accounts and seized real estate assets.

Justice Sinha had then noted that no amount of inquiry will ever be beneficial until the primary mind behind the multi-million dollar West Bengal school recruiting scandal is discovered.

Nothing will be accomplished until the primary brain is found, she said.
