Chhari Mubarak departs for a holy cave shrine during the Amarnath Yatra

On Saturday, the saffron-clad sacred mace of Lord Shiva, also known as “Chhari Mubarak,” departed from here for Pahalgam in preparation for the special rituals that would mark the conclusion of the yearly Amarnath yatra on August 31.

On Saturday, the Chhari Mubarak Swami Amarnath Ji departed from this location for the major portion of his trek. Before the start of the trip, special prayers were offered at the Dashnami Akhara shrine.

The mace’s keeper, Mahant Deependra Giri, brought it to the sacred cave sanctuary in the south Kashmir Himalayas. After stopping for the night at Pahalgam on Saturday and Sunday, Chandanwari on August 28, Sheshnag on August 29, and Panchtarani on August 30, Giri will carry the holy mace to conduct “pujan” and have “darshan” on August 31 during the early hours of “Shravan-Purnima.”
