CM Revanth Reddy announces plans to establish a new Rs 2K-cr Genome Valley

The subsequent phase of Genome Valley would be established on 300 acres of land with an investment of Rs 2,000 crore, according to a Tuesday announcement made by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Revanth, who was the principal guest at the opening of “BioAsia 2024” in Hyderabad, said that the government has designated clusters for greenfield integrated pharmaceutical villages in Vikarabad, Medak, and Nalgonda.

The state government plans to build ten such institutions, including the three pharma villages, with an estimated cost of Rs 1 lakh crore.

According to the chief minister, the pharma villages would have the infrastructure needed to support over five lakh new employment and open doors for entrepreneurs. He emphasized the Rs 40,232 crore investment Telangana has got at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos earlier this year, saying that the Congress understood the “value of trust.”

Sridhar Babu: A new life sciences policy is in the works

A “new dynamic life sciences policy for the state which will be a fusion between technology, life sciences, pharma, policy, and regulatory agencies” is in the works, according to a statement made by Industries and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu during the occasion.

Professor of genetic medicine Gregg L. Semenza, a Nobel winner, received the Genome Valley Excellence Award on this special occasion.~

In India, Miltenyi Biotech makes its debut

Two important collaborations were also launched during the occasion. By opening its first office and contributing to the construction of the Miltenyi Innovation and Technology Centre, a Centre of Excellence (COE) for cell and gene therapy (CGT) in Hyderabad, Miltenyi Biotech made its debut in India. The objective of this COE is to provide practical training in proof of concept, pre-clinical/clinical development, and ultimate commercialization to scientists, researchers, industry professionals, and physicians. Furthermore, Terminus Group and their expertise partner Rx Propellant announced plans to build 2 million square feet of well designed life sciences infrastructure. Among these projects is the globally recognized “One North,” which consists of a 150-key hotel and service apartments in Genome Valley.
