Delhi: A man who was unconscious when he died in a park is partially eaten by a mongoose

An autopsy report on a 19-year-old man discovered dead in a southeast Delhi park last month with serious injuries to his face, neck, and torso indicated that the guy’s corpse had been devoured by an animal, most likely a mongoose.

Shivam, an Okhla native, was recognized as the dead. It is likely that he was bitten by a snake or became inebriated from drug use. The police claim that they have not yet determined the cause of death.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast), Rajesh Deo, stated that following a PCR call about a body received at the Okhla Industrial Area police station, the Station House Officer and other staff members arrived at the location where a single male dead body was discovered in the shrubs of DDA Park, Okhla Phase 2. The man’s face and neck were apparently consumed by mongooses.

“The Crime Branch (south) team roped off the area and examined the crime scene. The DCP added, “Exhibits gathered from the location were seized.”

Upon examination, it was discovered that the deceased had a tattoo of Lord Shiva on his breast and the word “Shivam” on his right forearm. After further investigation, the police recognized the dead as Shivam, who had not been seen at his home since March 8.

Shivam spent the previous six months working as a sweeper at MCD. When his father was questioned during the investigation, he said that Shivam may have taken a drug on the day of Shivratri. In addition, he said that when looking for Shivam about nine in the morning, he discovered his motorbike at the park,” Deo claimed.

Shivam’s cell phone was turned off after the deceased’s father and him had their last phone chat on March 8 at about 11 a.m.

The corpse was transferred to AIIMS for a post-mortem and medical assessment. The officer said, “As per PM, report, the body has been nibbled by animal, the final cause of death is awaited,” and that they have filed a lawsuit in accordance with Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) section 174.

Inquest reports must be prepared in accordance with Section 174 of the CrPC, 1973, in the event that a person has killed themselves, been murdered, died in an accident, or died under suspicious circumstances.
